Small fitting, full colour system
Low wattage does not mean a cut-down colour system: the 3W model keeps the full 2200K-6500K white span plus RGBW, and the same DMX512 / DALI / 0-10V control set as the larger submersibles, so a detail light can join the same colour programme as the main fountain or pool fittings instead of running as a separate white accent. Beam angles are 10°, 20° and 30°, and at 0.38 kg the fitting suits steps, narrow channels, spa niches and the edges of water features where a 165mm-face model would be out of scale.
The housing choice
This is the one datasheet model whose housing is listed in three materials: SUS#316 stainless steel, brass or aluminum. The choice matters by water type — chlorinated or salt water argues for the 316 stainless variant, while a freshwater decorative pond may accept aluminum — and the material is therefore part of the configuration, not a detail to leave to chance. The housing comparison guide works through the trade-offs, and the glass stays 10mm tempered across the model with an IK10 impact rating as listed.
Confirm before ordering
Confirm the housing material, colour variant and control variant for your configuration in writing; the housing material is a listed variant of this model. Before you order, check the minimum order quantity and lead time for the configuration in your quotation. Certificates available upon request.
Where a 3W fitting earns its place
Small fittings fail by being asked to do big fittings' work. The LX-UD-001A's honest territory is the last metre of a scheme: the step tread that needs a marker of light, the narrow channel between two water levels, the spa niche, the rim of a raised planter pond, the underside of a bridge lip over a rill. In those positions a full-size fitting is not stronger, it is simply wrong — too much body, too much output, too coarse a beam. At 0.38 kg with a single LED, this model puts a controlled point of light where the architecture is small, and its 10° beam can still throw a readable accent across a feature a few metres away.
Colour in miniature
Because the colour system is the full one — the 2200K-6500K span plus RGBW, with DMX512, DALI or 0-10V control as listed — a detail fitting joins the main programme instead of sitting outside it. The practical consequence is choreography: steps that warm as the main fountain cools, a channel that follows the basin's colour scene, a niche that echoes the facade. None of that is possible if the small fittings are a separate white-only purchase, which is how detail lighting is usually value-engineered — and visibly cheapened. Keeping the small fittings inside the same colour and control specification is the inexpensive decision at design stage and the expensive one to retrofit.
Specifying the housing honestly
The three listed housing materials are not a cosmetic choice. In a chlorinated spa, specify the SUS#316 variant and write it into the order; in a freshwater garden pond, aluminum may serve, but the decision should be recorded against the water type rather than made by default. Brass sits between the two in tradition and behaviour. Whichever is chosen, the glass and the sealing concept stay the same across the model, so the maintenance regime does not change with the material — only the corrosion watch points do.
